FARMINGTON, N.M. (TND) — Police say three people are dead and more are injured after a shooting Monday in New Mexico.
The Farmington Police Department said in a Facebook post that two officers,one from the Farmington Police Department and one from New Mexico State Police, were injured in the shooting.
One suspect was confronted and killed on scene, and there are currently no other threats at this time, the post said. Police don't believe there is a second suspect.
Police said at least three civilians were killed. The injured officers are being treated at a local hospital and are in stable condition, according to the post.
Nearby elementary schools were put on lockdown as a precaution.
Video posted on Facebook by a bystander shows multiple police cars at the scene.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tweeted that agents from Phoenix were going to Farmington to assist with the investigation.
