LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, appeared in an Arkansas court Monday for a contempt hearing in a paternity case.
The lawyer of America's first son requested not to appear in court and to remove a witness, but County Circuit Judge Holly Meyer did not accept the request.
Biden arrived to the 9 a.m. hearing at 8:45 a.m. with his new attorney.
The hearing involved a claim of contempt. The judge said she needed specifics on what was not followed but later ruled there wasn't anyone in contempt in the case at this time.
Biden's attorneys say he is paying his child's mother, Lunden Roberts, $20,000 a month. He has requested that amount be lowered, saying he has paid her $750,000 in the last three years. They also claimed Roberts' witness in the case had released information to the media. Her attorneys denied that claim.
During the hearing, Roberts' attorneys asked questions about Biden's art collection and how much he made from his paintings. They also asked about the kind of car he drove. Biden's attorney responded that his Porsche had been repossessed and the price and value of his art collection varied.
Judge Meyer later told both sides they needed to be better at disclosing their financial information and has ordered a full compliance with discovery for both sides. She also is giving Biden's attorneys access to Roberts' credit report and all electronic messages about him she made to third parties.
The deadline for both sides to answer about discovery is May 12.
On May 22, Biden's attorney will have a deposition with Roberts' team's expert witness; which is just one day before a pre-trial hearing on May 23.
All parties and witnesses will be deposed June 13 through June 16 with a trial date set for July 24.
