In operation crime and justice, Nashville leaders sounding the alarm about safety on Broadway. Metro police are investigating after a woman says two men, drugged, raped, robbed, and kidnapped her.

Metro Police, arresting 36-year-old Joseph Farmer, after they say the Chattanooga man targeted a college student on Broadway.

According to a police report, an 18-year-old woman was at a bar downtown when she believes someone drugged her when her memory became “foggy."

Her next memory was in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with two men she didn't know. She says they sexually assaulted her, later yelling “stop, get off” to the men.

She told police the men eventually dropped her off at a McDonalds.

With Victims' Voices Verna Wyatt urging the victim to seek support. She adds, "one rape victim I'll never forget said it was like the murder of her soul, so you really have to take care, process what's happened to you."

The arrest affidavit details a “guilty conscious” of one of the suspects, who later admitting to “having sex” with the victim, but saying it was consensual. Long says, “there’s so many cases where women that do get roofied that do get drugged.”

Downtown bartender Alexis Long warns others of the risks. She says, “we do care about the people we serve.“ Long says her staff is trained to throw out any drinks that are left unattended even if just for a couple mins, urging customers to go to a manager or bartender if they have any fears or concerns." Long says, “people just come down here all lawless. It's really sad, but people just come to Nashville and they just completely forget like hey I do have to interact with people. I do have to have some common sense and some decency “

Another downtown bartender suggesting bar goers take the drink directly from a bartender, instead of a stranger. Even buying this wrist scrunchie that can turn into a drink cover.

And another downtown bartender says when a drink is spiked there are other signs to look out for, like your drink becoming cloudy, or excessively bubbling, you may also see sinking Ice, or get an unfamiliar salty taste while becoming confused and nauseous.
