A woman died while kayaking at Percy Priest Reservoir over the weekend.

The Nashville Fire Department says that crews worked near the Hamilton Creek Recreation area to find a kayaker who did not resurface. TWRA confirmed that a collision took place between a recreational boat holding three people and the kayak with the solo woman kayaker.

The woman never came back up after the collision.

Crews with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Nashville Office of Emergency Management and Nashville Fire began by searching the area where the incident happened. They found the body of the female kayaker using an underwater camera, and they recovered the body later that day.

Officers were able to confirm the victim is 24-year-old Jaidha Lindsay of Murfreesboro. Lindsay was found in 54 feet of water, and she was not wearing a life jacket.

Boating officer Clay Hetland of District 21 says that this is the first boating death on Percy Priest this year.

Officials responded to the boating incident the morning of April 29. This is an ongoing investigation.
