Nashville, Tenn. (WZTV) — FOX 17 News has issued a Code Red Weather Alert for possible severe storms and high winds possible for Friday.
HIGH WIND WARNING
A High Wind Warning has been issued for the following Tennessee counties until 6 p.m. Friday: Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner, Macon, Clay, Pickett, Houston, Humphreys, Dickson, Cheatham, Davidson, Wilson, Trousdale, Smith, Jackson, Putnam, Overton, Fentress, Perry, Hickman, Lewis, Williamson, Maury, Marshall, Rutherford, Cannon, DeKalb, White, Cumberland, Bedford, Coffee, Warren, Grundy, Van Buren, Wayne, Lawrence and Giles.
Reporter Kylie Walker said there were wind gusts of 79 mph in Clarksville, 74 mph in Springfield and 68 mph near Columbia Airport.
There have been reported damages and power outages across the Midstate and in Kentucky due to the high winds.
All modes of severe weather will be possible today across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. An updated map referencing what areas could be impacted the most has been released. The area with the highest risk of severe weather has shifted to the east. Most areas around and east of I-65 are now in a level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather.
A high wind warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for most of our area. This could bring down some trees and cause power outages.
